What do the Twelve Days of Christmas and Donna Andrews have in common? Six geese, that’s what. But Donna Andrews doesn’t lay any eggs with her six geese. Instead she has Six Geese A-Slaying in her Meg Langslow series. It’s a bone tickling tale of a Christmas parade gone wrong.
Somehow Meg, who apparently still doesn’t know how to say no, finds herself in charge of Caerphilly’s annual Christmas parade. It’s an ambitious undertaking, from the twelve days of Christmas to a live nativity with a VERY pregnant Mary to a curmudgeonly Santa Claus. Somehow Meg has to organize everyone and get the parade started on time if the weather permits. Life only gets more hectic when a reporter for a national paper shows up to cover the small town parade.
Things begin to spiral out of control when Santa turns up dead, a stake of wood through his heart. Suddenly the participants in the parade turn into suspects. Will Meg and her family ever figure out who the killer is before the parade starts?
It’s funny. It has Donna Andrews unmistakable touch of humor and the incorrigible Langslow family. Whether you are in the mood for Christmas or not, this is a fun book to relax with. It does have a few instances of mild language.
